The module introduces the components of environmental conditions and issues. It focuses on human intervention affecting the environment both positively and negatively and the relationship of buildings with the natural system. Students will be introduced to basic environmental awareness through lectures and discussions. Additionally,the module introduces students to the basic elements of climate and their influences on architecture, which aims to facilitate students to create acceptable environmentally conscious and comfortable building designs. There will be formative and summative assessments in this module comprising of assignment, test,and case study.

P1: Case Study: Passive Building Design

It consists the study of natural daylight & ventilation where a double story house/bungalow is chosen and case study is conducted in different spaces of the houses where solution are to given to insufficient light spaces & overheated room.

P2: Artificial Lighting Design Layout: LUMEN METHOD

Having an adequate amount of illuminance at a particular space of a building will improve work productivity and provide visual comfort to the end users. However, there are spaces in buildings that may have enough illuminance due to insufficient number of lamps or the general lighting available at theroom (space). The aim of this assignment to provide the students om the understanding of the principle of artificial lighting design by implementing a Lumen Method calculation.
